Relief in the Heart of Her Neighborhood
It was one of those sunny days when the sun was shining brightly and the air was fresh. My name is Nicoletta and I decided to take a walk around my neighborhood enjoying the beauty of the flowers in the gardens and the birds singing in the trees. But at a certain point an uncomfortable discomfort began to make itself felt in my stomach. A stomachache that did not promise anything good.
As I walked along the street the discomfort grew in intensity. I looked around: the elegantly decorated houses seemed to ignore my growing discomfort. I have to find a quiet place. I thought as my walking pace accelerated.
I continued to look for a secluded corner. My mind raced to all the public places I avoided in these situations, and the desire for a discreet place became pressing. I passed by a small park but it was too crowded, and I was not ready for those stares.
Finally I realized that there was a secondary path that led to a wooded area at the beginning of the path to the house. Without thinking twice I headed towards that spot hoping to find some privacy. Once there I noticed the beauty of the place: tall trees green leaves and a quiet silence that I loved.
With a sigh of relief I tried to make sure there was no living soul around. It was an awkward moment, but sometimes nature calls and you can't ignore it. I found a hidden corner between some bushes and, finally I felt at ease.
After solving the problem that was plaguing me, I realized that, despite the awkwardness of the situation I had used that opportunity to reconnect with nature. Coming out of my refuge I felt reborn and ready to continue my walk with a smile on my lips and a new appreciation for the small moments of freedom that life offers even in the most unexpected situations even if my legs were completely wet with pee.
